The Žilavka is autochthon West-Herzegovina variety and well known trough the centuries. The Žilavka wine achieves high quality, and has been recognized and awarded numerous times.
Žilavka has geographically protected origin, and is exclusive for Mostar region. The HEPOK Vineyards, planted
and nourished on fertile soil of Trebižat river valley, next to town of Ljubuski, are one of the best in Herzegovina region.
The terroir of Ljubuski is
determined by the Mountains in the North and Adriatic Sea in the South. Being on the border between Continental and Mediterranean climate creates unique conditions for excellent wines.
The selected grapes are harvested by hand and cooled in the vineyard, immediately after picking. Temperature controlled fermentation, stainless steel tanks, constant analyses and regular hygienic controls are the up to date standards we apply, but the key secrets for extraordinary wines lies in the great Žilavka tradition and knowledge of HEPOK winemakers.
This Žilavka is a dry wine of supreme quality, specially selected and nourished in the cellar. It is characterized by a full body, an elegant fruit of honey melons and a long after taste.
The balance between the warm days and cool nights enabled Žilavka to collect the best out of autumn sun and keep its freshness. With the ripe tannin structure this wine has a high ageing potential.
